What it's all about

Architectural photography is not so much about photographing things as it is photographing space, not empty space but ones perception of space and place, how one should move thru it, how light passes thru it, how the space functions and feels. A space made for people is not static, nor one dimensional, it changes with time and vantage point, but a photo can capture the view one wants to see forever. Architectural photography is about capturing an essence of a space, a structure, a moment, a vision.

It is about illustrating what one wants to see. It is a creative process all unto itself. It is not simply aiming a camera and clicking a button. There are far more puzzles to be solved, both visually, technically, aesthetically, logistically. It’s about timing, planning, editing, and improvisation. It requires people skills, the right equiptment, extra lighting and filters, and at times, tree climbing skills just to get the right shot.
