Who is Bev?

I am a designer, artist, and geek who enjoys puzzles, creating solutions, and tends to find people endlessly fascinating.

I have been an entrepreneur since 1991, beginning with a software startup aimed at providing tools for designers. Currently I helm two businesses, this one and Beverly Multerer Photography.

Education: BS-Art, University of Wisconsin, Madison 1990. With additional graduate studies in architecture at the University of Washington, and various math and science classes since.

When not working I am drawn to the water, water sports [competitive and otherwise], and traveling the globe.

Why bevdidit? You might say I´ve gone back to my roots.

In 1991 two kids dropped out of grad school to start a software company. For years it was a great adventure, 9 products created for sale, worldwide distribution, favorable reviews, various contracts of work for hire on top of that, it was two people coming up with ways to make people lives a little easier, it was fun, creative, challenging, and profitable. The companies name was Zephyr Design and Bev enjoyed the challenge of it very much.

After that came more studies, another business specializing in architectural photography [see Beverly Multerer Photography] but that alone did not fully fit the bill, more challenges were needed, so in were mixed more studies in math and science, just to eventually come back to the beginning and realize there is something very beautiful about creating web sites. It´s so many things combined into one, its visually challenging, there are technical challenges, one must appeal to ones audience or they will not stick around, and it evolves thru time. Its about creating a vision, a service, a look and feel to something, its about providing information in a way people can find it. With this in mind, in 2005, bevdidit.com began.

General Philosophy...aka what it's all about

It´s a journey of discovery, whether a village or web site navigation is much the same, what one discovers, how one moves about, how one anticipates where the road will lead, how the space looks, feels, behaves all work into the considerations of what a web site is. It´s neither a static space, nor merely two dimensional though it seems to be, instead it´s an elaborate 3d maze tied carefully together. It needs to be able to change with time and deal with the range of standards out there for the web; it needs to convey information. It´s about capturing the viewers attention long enough to convey the message. It involves a surprising amount of structure and code to illustrate what one wants to see.

It is a creative process full of puzzles for the designer of the site to be solved, both visually, technically, aesthetically, logistically, so that it is easy for the user. It´s about timing, planning, editing, and improvisation. It requires people skills and computer skills. Knowledge of coding and a creative style. It is a great game in that it works all parts of my brain to create it. Not that the end user sees this or even cares, but to me it is part of what I like about it. Well, that and I just like trying to understand how people think and give them something they deem useful.
